What is a dermaroller?
Drum-shaped roller studded with fine microneedles. It is rolled over the skin in various directions which causes pin-point bleeding. Apart from acne scars, it can also be used for the treatment of sun damaged skin, fine lines, wrinkles and stretch-marks.
How it works?
Needles pierce the skin and create microholes without damaging the surface leading to the release of growth factors and stimulation of formation of new collagen and elastin which further leads to reduction of scars. Therefore the treatment is known as Collagen induction treatment.
How many sessions of dermaroller are required?
4-6 sessions at 6 weeks intervals.
Dermaroller treatment has the advantage of being cost effective as well as having a shorter downtime compared to lasers. It is important to follow the post procedure care as advised by your dermatologist.
